He tells Mike that, in 1929, a year before the fire at the Black Spot, the entire gang was murdered by Derry residents when stopping through town to buy ammunition. Keene tells him the story of the Bradley Gang, a group of outlaws who were hiding out in Maine after several bank robberies in the midwest. Many years later, Mike interviews him and Mr. He administers Eddie's asthma medication and later reveals to him that it's only a placebo. Norbert Keene was the owner and operator of the Center Street Drug Store for fifty years from 1925 to 1975. It was supposed to be the clown incited the violence. They saw more didn't they? I do remember reading a part where the boys describe seeing the town people all start shooting their guns and a clown who was there behind them watching. Believe in it the way I do, you won't be sorry! Cheers." I'm here because I want to make a version that will blow people's minds. Nobody here wants to make an easy horror movie, I wouldn't have stayed a minute if that was the deal. "I love IT as much as you and I feel very honored by being given the chance to adapt it the way it should. Every single one of the losers has a special place in my heart and I want to honor this by exploring their minds and hearts in depth, further than anyone ever did before. For me it would be unconceivable to tell a horror story that lacks a powerful emotional core. Rest assured our film will be very focused on the human drama. "I empathize with your concerns and in fact I feel the same way. I can say my version of IT highly emphasizes Pennywise's most terrifying virtue which is it's ability to materialize into your worst fear I want to take people in a journey into Pennywise's world through a disturbing, surrealistic and intoxicating experience that will leave nobody at ease." The way Cary intended to execute the script is something that only he can talk about. "It is very hard to talk about someone else's vision of a movie. For now, I can tell you, bear with me, you're not going to be disappointed, It's going to be beep awesome." There is more to it than what you read in the press, and, for good or bad, a lot of nuances and details never go public. I'm a huge fan of Stephen King and this book and if I sensed that they wanted to mess with IT to favor a conventional horror spectacle I would have walked away. Trust me when I tell you, I wouldnt have stayed 10 minutes in this project if I thought that i would be held back from doing an elevated, original and truly horrifying movie. I cannot talk about the reasons why the studio and Cary parted ways but I can tell you, the depth and quality remains uncompromised. I will direct a movie that is based on the Palmer-Fukunaga script with the addition of some ideas that reflect my vision of the movie. "The movie I pitched the studio is an elevated horror film that stays true to the essence of Stephen King's book, yet bringing a few new elements to the story. Now, children are being murdered again and their repressed memories of that summer return as they prepare to do battle with the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers once more.Current director Muschietti (who left The Mummy after Universal wanted to change it from a horror flick into a family action film) made some comments on this matter too: Unsure that their Losers Club had vanquished the creature all those years ago, the seven had vowed to return to Derry if IT should ever reappear. Mama helmer Andy Muschietti is directing the film, which stars Jaeden Lieberher ( Midnight Special) as Bill Denbrough, Finn Wolfhard (“Stranger Things”) as Richie Tozier, newcomer Sophia Lillis as Beverly Marsh, Jack Dylan Grazer ( Tales of Halloween) as Stan Uris, Wyatt Oleff ( Guardians of the Galaxy) as Eddie Kaspbrak, Chosen Jacobs (“Hawaii Five-0”) as Mike Hanlon and Jeremy Ray Taylor ( 42) as Ben Hanscom, the younger versions of the story’s protagonists.īased on the novel by Stephen King, whose story recalls a promise made twenty-eight years ago that forces seven adults to reunite in Derry, Maine, where as teenagers they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. The events of the film will be moved upward from the source material, which was set in both the 1950s and 1980s, and will be set in the present day with the late 1980s as the past setting. Check out the IT remake photos in the gallery below! To celebrate, producer Barbara Muschietti (sister of director Andy Muschietti) revealed a new depiction of Pennywise on her Instagram feed, which we’ve included below along with several other pics from her feed that reveal new views of the set. After a tumultuous development process, the first part of the new filmic adaptation of Stephen King’s IT has wrapped production.
